Office Setup Lab publishes guides about home office furniture, ergonomics, workspace layout, lighting, accessories, and working comfort.

Please read this page before acting on anything you find here.

This site is not medical advice

Ergonomics sits close to health. Guides on this site discuss posture, back and neck discomfort, eye strain, repetitive strain, seating support, and how a workspace affects your body over a long day.

None of it is medical advice, and none of it is a diagnosis.

Office Setup Lab holds no medical qualification and no certified-ergonomics credential. The guides here are general information drawn from experience and research — not an assessment of you, your body, your medical history, or your workstation.

Nothing on this site is a substitute for a qualified professional who can actually examine you.

Please see a professional

Talk to a doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, chiropractor, or certified ergonomist — not a website — if you are dealing with any of the following:

  • Pain that persists, worsens, or wakes you at night
  • Numbness, tingling, weakness, or pins and needles in your arms, hands, legs, or feet
  • Pain that follows an injury, fall, or accident
  • Headaches, dizziness, or vision changes you associate with screen work
  • Discomfort during pregnancy, or while recovering from surgery
  • Any existing back, neck, joint, nerve, or circulatory condition
  • Symptoms that do not improve after you change your setup

If you have severe pain, sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or any symptom that feels like an emergency, seek urgent medical care immediately. Do not wait, and do not look for an answer on this website.

A workspace change cannot treat an injury. An ergonomic chair is not a medical device, and buying one is not a course of treatment.

If your employer offers a workstation assessment, or your health service provides one, that assessment is worth far more than any general guide — including this one.

Individual results vary

People differ in height, build, reach, flexibility, health history, and the work they do. Budgets and rooms differ too.

A setup that solves one person's back pain may do nothing for yours, or make it worse. The guides on this site explain principles and trade-offs; they cannot account for your body or your room. Apply them with judgement, and stop anything that hurts.

Products, prices, and availability

Product details, specifications, prices, and availability change without notice. A product that was accurate on the day a guide was published may have been revised, rebranded, or discontinued since.

Always confirm current specifications, dimensions, weight ratings, warranty terms, and return policy with the seller or manufacturer before buying. Measure your own space first. Office Setup Lab is not responsible for a purchase that does not fit, does not suit you, or does not arrive as described — that is between you and the seller.

Assembly, electrical, and safety

Some guides touch on desks, standing desks, monitor arms, shelving, lighting, and powered equipment.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions and load limits — not a guide on this site. Do not exceed a stated weight capacity. If a task involves mains electrical work, wall fixing, or anything structural, use a qualified tradesperson. Improperly mounted equipment can cause serious injury.

Guides here may link to other websites for reference. Those sites are not under this site's control, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on them.
