Where things stand right now

Office Setup Lab is new, and this disclosure is published in advance rather than backfilled later: affiliate links are the intended way to support the site as guides are published.

What a commission does not buy

This is the part that actually matters.

A commission does not decide:

What gets recommended. Products are judged on whether they suit the reader, not on what they pay.
How a product is described. Weaknesses get written down even when a product pays well.
Where a product ranks. A higher commission does not move anything up a comparison.
What gets covered at all. A commission is not a reason to cover a product, and the absence of one is not a reason to ignore it.

Some of the most useful advice on a site like this earns nothing at all — keep the chair you have, fix your monitor height first, buy the cheaper option, do not buy anything yet. That advice will not be withheld because it does not pay.

If a product is not worth your money, the guide will say so. If the honest answer is that you do not need the product, the guide will say that too.

Why this site uses affiliate links

Running Office Setup Lab costs money and time: hosting, tools, research, and the products themselves.

Affiliate commissions cover that without putting the site behind a paywall, filling it with intrusive advertising, or selling your details to anyone. It means the site's costs are paid by the companies selling the products, not by you.

The trade-off is a conflict of interest that has to be managed honestly rather than pretended away. That is what this page and the Editorial Policy are for.
